About IENE

IENE is a European network of experts working on the interface between transportation, infrastructure and ecology. Initiated in 1996, IENE provides an independent, international and interdisciplinary platform for exchanging knowledge and developing solutions that support safe and ecologically sustainable transport infrastructure.

The network brings together practitioners, researchers and decision-makers to address topics such as wildlife-traffic interactions, habitat fragmentation, ecological connectivity and mitigation measures. Through collaboration, events and technical work, IENE contributes to advancing best practices and supporting their implementation across Europe and beyond.

IENE undertakes the management of the Biodiversity & Infrastructure Handbook to facilitate knowledge transfer, capacity building and access to evidence-based guidance for infrastructure planning and management.
