Figure 1.3.3 – Badger carcasses are a common sight along Swedish roads in spring. Road traffic stands for probably half of all mortality in Swedish badgers and exceeds hunting in certain areas. The effect is severe in early spring when lactating females are hit, most of which are already pregnant with the new litter.
